Aluminum Panel Repair

PDR on aluminum hoods, doors and fenders, which need a different technique than steel.

Many modern trucks, SUVs and luxury vehicles use aluminum hoods, doors, fenders and liftgates to save weight. Aluminum behaves differently from steel: it is stiffer, has less memory and can crack if it is pushed too hard.

Vehicles that often use aluminum

  • Full-size pickup trucks
  • Luxury sedans and SUVs
  • Many hoods and liftgates
  • Some electric vehicles

How we approach it

Aluminum repairs are done more slowly, with more controlled pushes and, where appropriate, gentle heat to keep the metal workable.

We check paint and metal condition closely before starting, since aluminum panels are less forgiving of stretched or sharp damage.
